The BJP has asked the Union government to buy a house in London where, the father of Indian Constitution, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar once lived. The 2,050 sq ft, three-storey house, has market price of Rs 40 crore. Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar said that he has written to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and also sought Prime Minister’s intervention to acquire the house at any cost.
Earlier, former chief minister of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan wrote to UPA government to buy the house. However, he did not follow up the matter and has no idea whether the UPA government made any attempt to buy the house or not. An agent said that Indian authorities have lost interest on the property.
