The government on Tuesday released the fresh stats of Tiger population in the country and we have a good news. According to the latest numbers, Tiger population has increased from 1706 in 2010 to 2226 in 2014. It was in 2006 that the government took up the task of protecting tigers as the number dropped to 1,411 from over 3,000 in early 2000.
The National Tiger Conservation Authority reported that 64 tigers died in 2014 due to various reasons and Tamil Nadu stood first which registered maximum deaths. With the help of best technology and year long process, the population of Tigers was calculated. The Union ministry has started a special initiative to take care of the orphan cubs.
