Baap of Tablets `Akash’, blessing to students

The response has been overwhelming. With tens of thousands of calls daily to our call-centre, we are unable to adequately respond to all the queries we are receiving- CEO.

Ministry of Information & Technology (India) in association with desi firm Datawind launches Ubislate 7 in India as Aakash, the Baap of tablets. Well if you are going to expect too much from the UbiSlate7+ than you shall be disappointed. But the maiden effort to bring PC to rural segments where people could not have imagined of owning one is a real great success. Wonder why no one thought of that before. And mind you the figures speak volumes of its success. Personally I had booked one for self way back in December and my delivery date was only in March 2012. Thanks that I am expecting the tab to have firsthand information on it. The Tab if booked right now on its website is scheduled for delivery only after April.

Let us now discuss the various advantages of the tab, rather than bogged down by the disadvantages. To all its disadvantages the price gives a firm reply. Right now it costs roughly below Rs 3,000 and what more can you expect from this little angel. It is on par with major primary versions of the tabs available in the market anything above 5,000-7,000.

The UbiSlate7+ is an Android 2.3 touch screen tablet that has a HD video co-processor for a high-quality multimedia experience and core graphics accelerator for faster application support.  This tablet is the only Android device in the market to offer DataWind’s UbiSurfer browser, based on 18 international patents.  The UbiSurfer browser accelerates web pages by factors of 10x to 30x, allowing for a web experience who’s speed is unrivalled. The device includes WiFi & GPRS connectivity allowing anytime & anywhere internet access and phone functionality. Optional 3G modems are also supported via USB. In addition to a micro-SD card slot, a full-sized USB port is integrated into the unit allowing pen-drives, external keyboards, web-cams, dongles and other inexpensive peripherals to be attached.
