Amazon Kindle now available in India

Good news for bookworms, the Amazon Kindle is now available in India. Amazon has also announded that it has launched the Kindle Store in India too. The e-reader is now available at Croma online retail store only for a nominal price just under Rs 7,000.

Earlier too Kindle was available in India but the process of ordering took extremely long while incurring extra shipping charges and also custom duties taxes.
The 6" e-reader from Amazon has been a great hit in most nations where it was available for its portability and pearl e-ink technology that allows you to read in the brightest of light too. This is the latest generation (fourth generation) of Kindle Touch. The e-reader boasts of a 4GB on-board storage and Wi-Fi/3G connectivity. However, other e-readers and tablets like the Kindle Fire are not available in India yet.

Amazon said that the Kindle Store Indiafor e-books had a long list of titles with Indian Authors like Amish Tripathi, Chetan Bhagat, Ravinder Singh and several others too. A few exclusive titles like the "Love, Life and a Beer Can" by Prashant Sharma, and "Reality Bites; a not so innocent Love Story" by Anurag Anand were also available.
"We are proud to launch this new Kindle store for Indian customers - offering Kindle book purchases in rupees and the ability to buy and read the work of many great Indian authors," vice president of Kindle Content, Russ Grandinetti at Amazon.com said.

Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) for independent authors and publishers in India has also been launched in the nation allowing a easy way for authors to publish their books making them available to Kindle customers in India and all over the world.
