With the stage for iPhone 5 all dandy and ready to go the stage for the iPhone 5 launch is all set. As always Apple liked to keep everything a big secret as a part of the free-marketing and promotion strategy. Rumors of the phone's features had been making their rounds while Tim Cook sport the smug smile reflecting the promotion that his products are receiving without the slightest of efforts.

Till date, there is no confirmation of the release of iPhone 5 but the press invite showed the shadow of a "5'' below 12, indicating September 12,Wednesday, subtly hinting that it will be the iPhone 5.

This would be the 6th iPhone after its first unique presence in the Market with the first iPhone in 2007 only 5 years ago. Here is a list of all the earlier iPhones and the release dates.

iPhone
June 29, 2007, starting in the US (announced January 9)

iPhone 3G
July 11, 2008, starting in the US, along with several other countries including UK. It was announced on June 9th.

iPhone 3GS: An upgrade to the existing model was released on June 19, 2009, starting in the US (announced June 8)

iPhone 4: Hit the shelves on June 24, 2010 initially introduced only in US, France, Germany and Japan and the UK (announced June 7).

iPhone 4S
Oct 14, 2011, starting in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK (announced Oct 4).

iPhone 5
To be announced. But it is speculated that the announcement and the iPhone 5 preorder would begin today, September 12 and the shipping would start 21 September within just nine days.
