Pune managed to pound chennai over scoring over 150 in 20 overs for the loss of only a few wickets in their turf in Chennai. Pune Warriors India were plain brilliant with their strategy in the game deciding to bat first after winning the toss. As planned, Aaron Finch built up the game with little help from Uthappa. It was Steven Smith who later seized the game thrashing the ball mercilessly to the boundaries scoring 39 in just 16 balls at a critical moment. He was awarded the man of the match too.

Chennai who got on to the ground with a 160 target had been dissappointed with a dismissal in the very second ball. Raina soon joined Aniruddha. Despite Badrinath and Jadeja's efforts to cinch the game, their plans just didn't come through. MSD also failed with the willow conceding the game to Pune by 24 runs.
