July 30, 2015 12:04
Motorola launched the 3rd generation Moto G at an event in New Delhi. The 1GB RAM / 8GB storage variant of the Moto G will be sold for Rs 11,999 whereas the 2GB RAM / 16GB variant of the device will be sold at Rs 12,999.
The Moto G comes with a 5-inch HD display with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It will sport the Android 5.1.1 OS along with proprietary Motorola features such as Moto Display, Quick Capture and Chop Twice. The phone will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC with a 1.4GHz quad-core processor. This will be paired with 1GB of RAM for the 8GB storage variant and 2GB RAM for the 16GB storage variant.
It will be having a 13MP rear snapper along with a 5MP front-facing camera. The Moto G will come with the dual SIM configuration and will support 4G SIM cards as well. It is powered with a 2,470mAh capacity battery.
The 3rd generation Moto G will feature IPx7 certification which makes the phone water resistant upto 3 feet of water for upto 30 minutes. The phone will be available in black and white variants, additionally you can select from a range of colourful snap-on covers.
The Moto G 3rd generation has a design that's quintessential Motorola with a unique touch. The smartphone doesn't exactly stand out in the crowd in terms of looks, but the in-hand feel is really good. The textured back strikes the right balance between design and functionality. It looks good and provides enough friction to offer a secure grip.
The Moto G 3rd generation comes with the Moto Display feature which was earlier seen on the Moto X (Gen. 2), which means you can see the time and other notifications on the lock screen without waking the phone up. The smartphone detects when you pick it up and automatically shows this information without you having to do anything.
Regarding the image quality, the Moto G 3rd generation captures good detail from outdoors and in well-lit conditions. The front camera is more than adequate to keep the selfie-obsessed happy. The Moto G 3rd generation can record full-HD videos and slow-motion videos at 720p.
