Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy today told the Special CBI Judge O.P. Saini of Delhi that home minister P. Chidambaram should be prosecuted for her role in the 2G scam.
Deposing as a witness on his private complaint against Chidambaram, Dr Swamy said that the minister should be made an accused in the case and tried along with former minister Raja and others.
“Raja alone could not be held responsible for the scam as he connived with Chidambaram in fixing the price of spectrum license in 2008 at the prevailing rates of 2001,” said the Janata Party chief.
Explaining in detail, he said that a 2003 cabinet decision had authorized both Mr. Raja and Mr. Chidambaram, the then finance minister to fix the spectrum price together. Dr Swamy testified as witness in the case after the court permitted him to produce fresh evidence in the case to prove the involvement of other conspirators in the scam. (JUBS)
