As the electioneering ended at 5 PM on Friday for the May 8 by polls of the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat and Pulivendula assembly seat, the contesting candidates reportedly spent Rs.300 Cr together towards their campaign making it the most expensive by-election campaign in the country.
The electoral fortunes of YSR Congress candidate, Ms Vijayalakshmi, her brother-in-law and Congress candidate, Mr Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, TDP candidate, Mr M. Ravindra Reddy alias B. Tech Ravi in Pulivendula and those of YSR Congress president, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, TD candidate and Rajya Sabha member, Dr. M.V. Mysoora Reddy and the Congress nominee and health minister, Dr D.L. Ravindra Reddy in Kadapa are at stake.
The by polls have also established another record in terms of security men as more than 15,000 armed constables are deployed to ensure peaceful polls.
Polling will begin at 7 am on Sunday under the hawk eye of the Election Commission which has arranged closed circuit surveillance cameras in all 1,512 polling stations, connected to the state headquarters.
