On Tuesday, after a baby was stolen in Khammam government area hospital, due to the support of an AP doctor, baby was found within four hours.
Be it government or private hospitals, stealing the babies is turning quite common these days. Especially in government hospitals, as the protection is less, the chances of losing the babies are very high. The Tuesday incident is not new to the state or in fact to the world.
On September 12th, the baby was born in Tegada in Charla Mandal, Khammam, to the couple Paja Ramprasad and his wife Radha. But after the doctors informed that the baby was affected with jaundice, baby was put in the incubator. Regarding this, after shifting the baby to the incubator on Sunday, the mother used to come periodically to feed the baby milk.
This procedure went up neatly till Monday. But from Tuesday, the baby’s mother was not called to feed. This made the parents go wild with the hospital staff and asked the reason. As the nurses were unable to give a proper answer, they have allegedly been beaten up by the parents and relatives of the baby.
Khammam govt. hospital: Woman in disguise of mother stolen child
Meanwhile, the police interfered in the case and registered a complaint. During the police interrogation, the hospital staff said, “we called Radha to feed milk to the child. Then a woman who appeared like Radha came and took the baby and we all mistook her to be Radha.”
After taking the statement as above, the police started inquiring about the case. In this process, AP Nellipaka primary health centre staff called additional district medical and health officer Pullaiah, saying that a woman brought a child for treatment, claiming to be her own child.
But the PHC doctor who could not believe the woman, called up Pullaiah and gave the information, which was forwarded to Bhadrachalam police within no time. The police instantly reacted to the complaint and arrested the woman named Karam Kalpana and her mother Ramulamma, who was with the baby at Nellipaka hospital.
Andhrawishesh view
After the recent baby death in Guntur government hospital, the hospital staff, who are responsible for the incident are suspended. Even then, the incidents like these are still taking place in the government hospitals. Unless and until, the government imposes stricter punishments, a solution for these incidents would not be found.
