In a shocking incident, the Pune businessman who was called as "gold man" was allegedly beaten to death in front of his son.

According to the officials, 48-year-old Datta Phuge, was found dead on a large ground in Dighi early on Friday morning. Twelve men dragged him out of his car, hit him with a sickle and beat him to death with enormous stones before fleeing.

The police said, “ Mr Phuge and his 22-year-old son were invited by one of the suspects to celebrate a birthday.”

Four years back, the prominent businessman posed wearing 22-carat gold shirt worth over Rs. 1 crore, with Swarovski precious stone catches and a gold belt. 15 goldsmiths from Bengal crafted the 3.5 kg shirt.
 
Police suspect a financial dispute have led to this murder. Four of the accused have been detained by the Pune Police.
