To Battle Pollution, GHMC to Install Air Purifiers:- The rise of air pollution across the cities is sure a worrying factor in the country. In an effort to keep Hyderabad free from the growing pollution, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took a decision to set up air purifying units across some selected locations in Hyderabad. 500 units will be installed across the city in the first phase. Strata Enviro is the firm that sent the proposal to the GHMC. On November 7th, the GHMC approved the proposal and finalized Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills and Panjagutta. The air pollution levels are huge in these regions during peak hours of traffic.
Each unit costs from Rs 50,000 to Rs 12,00,000 depending on the capacity of the air purifier. The air quality index last week ranged between 91 and 154. An AQI of over 100 is unhealthy for people. Amol Chaphekar, managing director of Strata Enviro said that the air purifiers will bring down air pollution. The funding can be done either through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding, through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. GHMC is also in plans to fully fund for the project.
