Andhra Pradesh government has released an ordinance abandoning Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam governing body. Current President Kanumuri Bapi Raju and rest of the board members have now become formers and TTD has directed all the officials to vacate the official bungalows alloted to them.
In 2011, then government of Andhra Pradesh has appointed Kanumuri Bapi Raju as Chairman of TTD and continued him in the same post till date. As the government in state changed, Kanumuri was reluctant to step down from the post and claimed that the post was offered to him by divine. The government also gave him time to quit but there was no sign from Kanumuri. Finally government took a decision on this yesterday and issued an ordinance.
Narasaraopeta MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao is in the pipeline to become the TTD chairman. He did hectic lobby for the post and Andhra Pradesh government is yet to take a decision on the new governing body.
