Hyderabad Police have rescued 200 child labourers from a shelter home at bangle making and footwear workshops in Old City region. As part of regular raids, the police held search operations at Aman Nagar area and the officials were shocked to see 30 children in one room. When dug deep into it, about 200 child labourers were caught by the police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police said, “The employer did not provide any sort of clothes to children but they have installed CCTVs to monitor the activities of children. This is a huge network where brokers make a deal with parents of the kids. They pay certain amount and get the children to work place. All the children caught were aged from 4 to 12 years. They are paid Rs 2000 to Rs 5000 per month and are forced to work 14 hours a day.”
