Mars colony in 2023

Well this is not a real estate ad and I am not a real estate agent either. This is the scenario that is devised by a Dutch group. This group led by Bas Lansdorp, a researcher from the Netherlands with a Masters in Science from Delft University of Technology, is all set to colonize the Red Planet by 2023. Mars has been the ideal destination for mankind imaginations since long. The extra terrestrial living plan named as Mars One is the results of such imaginations.

The plan will begin by sending a communication satellite to the red planet and test the conditions using a Red Planet Rover in 2018. Based on the findings the planet will be the residence of 4 astronauts in 2022. They will be up there and welcome the others as per the reports. Lansdrop plans to send a couple of adventurous astronauts every two years. However the developer of Plymouth Rocks says it is a one way journey to all who plan to live there.

Summing up Lansdorp's mission:

1.    Step one: send a communications satellite to Mars in 2016.
2.    Step two: follow up with a Red Planet rover in 2018, which will trawl the dusty landscape, scoping out some of the best spots to start a colony.
3.    Step three, in 2020: send infrastructure for the colonists to live in, including solar panels and machines that will convert the Martian elements into water and oxygen.
4.    Step Four, on September 14, 2022, Mars One will send its first four residents to their new colony on Mars.
5.    Step Five, They will send two more colony members every two years.

The company is very specific in stating that this will in fact be a one-way ticket. The astronauts who go to Mars will live there for the rest of their lives.  To finance this mission, they plan tol create the biggest media event ever seen. The new venture doesn't have a lot of the polish of other private space companies, many of which were started by billionaires such as Musk, Paul Allen or Jeff Bezos.  Mars One has a definite and achievable to-do list.

Sounds interesting but dreadful too, hence if one is fed up of this monotonous life in this concrete jungle, then the best available option in the next decade try this. Though as Thomas Hardy said 'Far From The Maddening Crowd' it is good to imagine. But there is always a danger warning put that 'it is a one-way ticket to the Mars.  (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
