Teachers day basis is to remember the Guru who has filled one with the lights of knowledge to dispel the darkness of ignorance. Probably with out whom thinking logic would have been next to impossible. The Gurus are the embodiments of moulding tomorrow's citizens and transferring knowledge. Nation could only progress with high standards of discipline and excellent level of knowledge that is imparted by these Gurus to Gen Next. If one such man has to be named it could be a majority choice that the man is none other than our former President A P J Abdul Kalaam.
The missile man of India spearheaded the defense program before becoming the eleventh President of the country. He was an aerospace engineer with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Generations hence forth will remember this great teacher for his significant contributions in the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. Kalaam sir's role in India's Pokhran II nuclear tests in 1998, gave the nation an edge of level playing amidst the global community.
Numerous people have benefited from this scientist-professor, who after his tenure at the palatial Rashtrapati Bhavan came back to his original one room quarters allotted at the Anna University where he was a professor. In addition the stalwart is currently a visiting professor at Indian Institute of Management Ahmadabad and Indian Institute of Management Indore, Chancellor of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Trivandrum and an adjunct/visiting faculty at many other academic and research institutions across India.
With so many assignments the former President is churning out more prospective scientists for the nation, to build up a sound technology base.
