War veterans and other people who have lost a limb or two can now live their lives almost similar to their life prior to the horrific experiences with a latest technology mechanical hand which was recently developed. One man from UK was fitted with this "Terminator-esque" prosthetic arm which is made out of carbon fiber to be highly durable and also light weight.
With his nerve senses he can control the arm to perform several actions like the real hand. Nigel Ackland, 53 from Cambridgeshire had met with an accident six years ago that changed his life completely. He lost his arm but now he has an advanced bionic hand which can perform activities with amazing precision. The Bebionic 3 Myoelectric hand, also has an aluminium body and knuckles made out of alloy.
The electrical signals that tell our hands to perform several functions are the same ones that control his artificial hand. There are 14 pre programmed actions that are similar to the hand movements including a clenched twist, pointing at an object, holding small glasses and objects. The strength with which he hold it is dependant on the impulses he generates in the upper arms.
Nigel had been able to dress himself, type on a computer and also peel the vegetables himself. Watch him in action below.
Amazing technology which could be potential for several other who have been debilitated, isn't it?
