Cricket: India defeats Oz - U-19 cup, IPL updates

This headline really sounded a little heartwarming, as Australia had beaten the Indian seniors in all departments in the last tour to the country.

Cricket enthusiasts in India may have a point to rejoice, apart from the IPL fever. Indian under-19 squad beats Australian squad in the final match to lift the under -19 Quadrangular cup. The final match played at Townsville, Australia, on Sunday saw the Indian lads lift the cup in style, by defeating the opponents by seven wickets. Earlier on the home team set a target of 195 and the Indians made 198 just by losing three wickets in the 43 rd over.  Soon Unmukt Chand could find his place in the senior’s squad if he displays the same consistency in future. His magnificent knock of 102 runs made the difference to tilt the scale in the One day game.

Well now getting back to the IPL fever, on Sunday Ajinkya Rahane’s ton ruins the Royal Challengers Bangalore victory chances. Rajasthan Royals win over their Bangalore opponents by posting a 59-run win. The RR posted a mammoth 195 for two after winning the toss and opting to bat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rahane produced a scintillating 103-run unbeaten knock off just 60 balls and together with Owais Shah (60) stitched 121 runs off 8.2 overs for the second wicket played a key role in the victory. Chasing the formidable total, RCB lost the plot after a quick start and lost wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 136 in 19.5 overs.  (With inputs from internet: AarKay)

On Saturday at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune, the home team Pune Warriors led by Sourav Ganguly beats the Chennai Super Kings led by M S Dhoni. J Ryder and S Smith became heroes for Pune Warriors as they clinched a crucial seven wickets. Pune Warriors reached the winning target 156 set by the CSK, by just losing three wickets and in just 19.2 overs.
