Lasith Malinga the magnificient fast bowler might be banned from the Sri Lankan squad. The Sri Lankan governement planned to give strong signals to players who showed disregards for representing the country. If the action of the government is underway then critics feel that the world class bowler might be a victim to teh decesion. Malinga was recently named the brand ambassador for the ICC World T 20.
Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that amendments will be introduced to the local sports law to give room for sporting bodies to implement the ban. "We are having issues mostly in cricket and rugby where national team players often refuse to represent the country when the national team has a scheduled tour and at times opt to play for some other event. So we are now looking at bringing in amendments to the sports law to allow sporting bodies to temporarily ban such players," he said.
The decesion to come hard on cricket fans comes in the wake of the players refusal to play for the Island nation last year. He opted the IPL intsead. In a recent issue he has also refused to renew a contract with the national board due to low payments offered. (With inputs from internet-AarKay)
