USA Bans WeChat and TikTok from Sunday:- The United States of America made it clear today that the Chinese apps WeChat and TikTok are banned from Sunday saying that they threaten national security. WeChat is a payment platform while TikTok is a video app. The decision has been taken amid rising tensions between USA and China. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross told in a statement that "The Chinese Communist Party has demonstrated the means and motives to use these apps to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and the economy of the US". WeChat is used among Chinese speakers mostly and TikTok is widely used by Americans across USA.
WeChat will be shut down from Sunday in USA. TikTok will continue operating till November 12th and it would face a full ban post 12th of November in USA. The order may be lifted if the security concerns are resolved before November 12th. TikTok is widely popular among youngsters and the quirky videos gained immense popularity. Donald Trump during his several recent speeches announced about the Chinese apps posing a threat for the national security and they would go ahead and ban them. The Indian government banned over 200 Chinese apps in the recent months including PUBG and TikTok. WeChat owned by China's Tencent has the potential to disrupt the social media and financial applications.
