Villages adoption through ‘NRI Divas’ in UP

NRI Divas events will be held in the starting days of January in Uttar Pradesh. In this event, the NRIs will be given the list of the villages in the state, to choose for the adoption.

Such chosen villages, will thereafter witness the development with the support of the NRI, who opted the village.

The officials, who is going to conduct the meeting for three days - January 4th, 5th and 6th said that, the villages in Agra and a few other districts which has good infrastructural facilities like the roads, sanitations etc, and also potential to be the tourist destinations, will be shortlisted.
      
Speaking about NRI Divas events, additional district magistrate (protocol) Arun Kumar said, “The NRI meet will be held at a hotel in the city from January 4 to 6. All efforts are being made to make it a grand and successful event.”

Around 100 visitors from 25 countries are expected to take part in the event, which is going to be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. In the same event, 10 foreign guests will be felicitated for their commendable work.

As a part of the event, the officials will boost the NRIs to invest in the state. Regarding this, a presentation would also be given, explaining the various government schemes.

Even a trip to Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri and a few other tourist spots, are also on  January 6th, which is the last day of the schedule.      

The past US Presidents, Dwight D Eisenhower and Bill Clinton had adopted two villages in Agra district in 1959 and 2000 respectively and performed several developmental operations. While Eisenhower had adopted Laramda, Clinton had picked Barara.
