Hate Speeches and Personal Attacks

The Election season in India witnesses a heated atmosphere with political leaders blaming, accusing and abusing each other. Well then you might wonder, there is nothing knew in this but the present elections brought up more refreshing stories. Hate Speeches involve more of communal while personal attacks will be made on a leader's family.

When the word Communal strikes, Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP] comes into limelight. The 2002 Gujarat riots is still haunting it and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. However, with successfully winning the elections in Gujarat thrice, Modi has overcome this obstacle but still certain parts of the country believe Modi is conspirator. Following this Modi's close aide, Amit Shah landed in a controversy and also faced the heat of Election Commission. Then it was another BJP leader Giriraj Singh who said Modi haters can go to Pakistan. Currently Giriraj Singh comments are trending and a latest update we have is, the Jharkhand court has issued an arrest warrant against Giriraj.

Shiv Sena joined the chorus and its leader Ramdas Kadam was booked in hate speech against muslims. Kadam allegedly said that "Muslims" who vandalised police vehicles, damaged public property and attacked women police personnel during the Azad Maidan riots in August 2011, will not be spared. An FIR was registered against Kadam and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav refused to support Kadam's statements.

Moving out of BJP, Congress MP candidate from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh was caught in a video saying that he would chop of Narendra Modi' head. The Election Commission took serious steps into this case and the Congress too did not endorse such comments. Its Vice President Rahul Gandhi has openly said, such statements doesn't make anybody popular and objected them.

Then came personal attacks. Here a non-political person was the target. He is Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law and Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra. More than any Congress leaders, very serious allegations were made on Robert Vadra and few people went to court. However with no proper evidence, the court could not take up the issue or it might have gone through pressure. The Gandhi family too was silent on allegations made on Robert Vadra but finally Priyanka Gandhi broke the silence yesterday. She said she was deeply hurt and her husband, family was humiliated by the oppositions.

Again coming back to Narendra Modi, his marital status was the headlines when he filled the spot of his relationship option in the nomination application. Modi's brother has said that he was married but left his wife for the sake of country. Taking advantage of it, Congress approached Election Commission and also the court for producing the false information in previous elections.

All these Hate Speeches and personal attack continue till the day elections results are out and common man too will forget them. Election commission also does so as there won't be any action against the leaders till next general elections. In the meantime, we see hardly one or two cases getting a solution out of thousands of cases that were registered. Election Commission should take stringent action against these leaders and also denied them poll battle if need, then only an end can be put to them.
