Centre Asks E-Commerce Firms Not To Sell Non-Essentials:- The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an order that the shops of non-essential goods can be re-opened across the country which are not in red zone, hot spots and containment zones. The sale of the non-essential goods is allowed. But the supply of non-essential goods through the e-commerce platforms is continued to be banned till the completion of the lockdown period confirmed the Union Home Ministry. It issued that the e-commerce sales will be permitted for the sale of essential goods only. The notification came on Friday night saying that all the registered shops in the residential complexes and neighbourhoods can now be opened.

The government said that there would be no changes of deliveries for the e-commerce firms. Only essentials like groceries, medicines and vegetables along with other essentials are allowed to be delivered through the e-commerce firms. All these e-commerce companies have been asked to acquire the permissions from the state governments before they start their sale. The Centre last week banned the sale of non-essential goods across the e-commerce platforms. Confederation of Indian Traders (CAIT) wrote to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to intervene into the matter.

India is under strict lockdown till May 4th and it may be extended as the number of cases in the country saw a huge rise. The government has been in plans to boost up the economy which is badly impacted due to coronavirus. But the e-commerce firms are yet to get the complete relief.
