Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ranjan Bhatt won the Vadodara Lok Sabha seat with a margin of one lakh and 83 thousands votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also contested from Vadodara and won with a record breaking majority. But Modi opted for Varanasi constituency and resigned to this and hence by-election was inevitable.
However, BJP is getting mixed results in the Assembly segments. A total of 33 Assembly seats results are in line from several states as BJP's candidates got promition to Lok Sabha. In Uttar Pradesh, ruling Samajwadi Party is leading while in Rajastan and Gujarat, BJP is facing tough competition.
