A writ petition has been filed in the Madras High Court against Rajinikanth's 'Lingaa' movie. The petition was filed filmmaker Ravi Rathinam and alleged that the storyline of 'Lingaa' movie is same as his 'Mullai Vanam 999' [2013]. He sought a stay and also urged the court to stop the movie's release.

The film unit of 'Lingaa' remained unavailable. The film is directed by KS Ravi Kumar which has Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty in the female lead roles. Lingaa teaser was launched recently which met with millions of views in YouTube.
