Micromax, and its likes, based in India have posed stiff competition to Samsung Galaxy Grand, the dual core phone with the famed phablet experience, though mediocre, and the South Korean mobile manufacturer has an answer like a slap to the cheaper manufacturers with its latest Galaxy Grand Quattro.
The Galaxy Grand Quattro is priced at Rs 17,290 but is availabile online at a price of Rs 16,570 at Flipkart and other e-marketing websites.
This is an improvement over the Galaxy Grand in terms of the processor, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and the pixel density due to a slightly smaller screen. It packs enough power with the 1GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and runs Samsung's TouchWiz UI layer on top. It also offers Motion UI that allows users to control the phone when a certain move is detected. For instance flipping the phone can mute it while receiving a call.
The screen has the same resolution as the Galaxy Grand but is slightly smaller than 5" measuring at 4.7-inch with TFT display. A slight downgrading on the camera to 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and a VGA front facing camera has helped the price to be lower than Rs 17k. It comes with 8GB internal memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card and a 2,000mAh battery.
As an added advantage, Samsung's Digital Wallet will give you a balance of Rs 3,000 for purchase of apps, games and other media content on Play Store or Samsung Apps for the first 90 days of the sales.
