Google has made its position in the smartphone market stronger with another highly awaited Nexus phone from LG called the Google Nexus 4 which was released on Monday. However the open playground of Google had a lot more to offer than just one device. The flagship tablet Nexus 7's bigger brother who is also greatly stronger on the hardware front. This 10 inch tablet is all set to displace Apple iPad from its position as the best tablet in the market.
With a starting price of just 399, you can lay your hands on the 10 inch tablet with hardware that beats all current tablets. Packing in a great display with 2560x1600 pixels which equates to over 300 ppi a tad better than the iPads resolution of 2048x1536 pixels which is still well under the 300 ppi mark. Numbers however are really numbers but the true difference that brought the tablet to life is the “True RGB Real Stripe PLS” screen which reproduces sharp images with the most realistic colors.
The tablet has a dual-core processor Exynos 5250 CPU running at 1.7 GHz and the graphics being powered by a Mali T604 chip which extremely powerful. Based on the all powerful ARM A15 architecture you are guaranteed a faster performance than even quad core processors that are available in the mobiles today. To add to the power is a 2GB Ram that allows you to multitask beyond the true definition of the word. Snap pictures with a 5MP rear camera and Skype with HD quality video enabled by a 1.9 MP front camera.
One drawback is that the device currently is only wi-fi without 3G or 4G connectivity. However you can expect an upgraded version to come soon because the first tablet released a few months ago by Google has been updated to have the mobile connectivity.
The Nexus 7 now has dropped the 8GB version and lowered the price of the 16GB version to $199. An additional model of 32 GB storage with cellular capability has been added to the stable at $299.
These are also one of the foremost devices that would be running the slightly tweaked Jelly Bean, Android version 4.2 which was earlier hyped to be the Lime Pie. This adds new features like multiple users like the PCs, gesture typing similar to SWYPE and separate drop down tabs for notifications etc.
India however has to wait before they can lay its hands on one.
